Chicken Night!

I came home today, which is a Wednesday. The great thing about being able to come home on Wednesdays is that Wednesday is All-U-Can-Eat Chicken Night at the Knights of Columbus. Not that I eat all that much, but their chicken is the best. And they have really good fries too.

When I was in college, during the summers I worked at the Old Fort as a historical interpreter ("docent", if you will). Mom, Grandma D., Aunt Dianne and I would meet up every Wednesday at the KC's for chicken. Usually I'd be in my uniform because it was smelly and needed to be washed. So anyway, that was our tradition. But then I moved away. And now chicken night is a rare treat.

So tonight Dad and Gracie joined us. It was Gracie's first chicken night. I was in charge of picking up Grandma. Of course there was no place to park near the door, so i pulled in to drop her off and help her into the building, but a nice man came up and took care of Grandma for me so I could find a place to park. I had to park about a block and a half away. The place was packed. So i went inside and found everyone. I sat down and Dad was very relieved I was there. He can only take care of the baby in small doses. So I whipped out some paper and a pen and got Gracie drawing (I'm Super Aunt, after all). We took a walk about for a minute and then she occupied herself by eating all the ice in my pop cup. Then our food came and she ate like a champ. She was really good and she charmed everyone, of course. Aunt Dianne thinks she's the best thing ever. It was a good time had by all!

Yay for chicken night!
