I'm Alive!

Here I am! Sorry for such a delay in updating you on my adventures. It's been a busy few weeks!

Here are the basics of my life:
I've been on four campus interviews. Only one didn't have any fun stories to go with it.
I still don't have a job for next year.
I had to move out of my apartment and into a new one.
My shoulder is killing me.
New Kids on the Block have made their comeback.
My Dad had a melanoma removed from his cheek.
My niece is turning 1.

So that's about it. Dad is fine, he will have a three-inch scar on his face and a dent where they removed the tissue. If you have to have melanoma, he had the good kind. I'm going to the doctor for my shoulder on Tuesday.

I saw a wild turkey today. It was walking out of the woods on campus as I was driving by. I've never seen a wild turkey before. Kinda cool.

One of my interviews was within driving distance. I missed a turn and ended up having to take a back road kind of highway to get where I needed to be. Along the way, I saw two baby cows chasing each other. I also saw some cool barns. I saw something else cool too, but I don't remember it.

One of my interviews was a disaster. My first flight was delayed, which made me miss my connection. I had to wait another two hours for the next flight, but I didn't have a cell phone number for my host, so she ended up waiting in the airport with nothing to do. Then in the morning, it was pouring, so my flat-ironed hair wasn't going to look too good. I was going to wash it out and wear it curly, but while I was waiting for the hot water to get warm, the water ran out. Literally. I didn't have any more water. It was sad. I had to go showerless. But my hair actually didn't end up looking too bad. Something else happened, but I don't remember it.

One of my interviews was OK, but my host was a little odd. I had told her I didn't like Asian food, and then for dinner she suggested a Himalayan restaurant. You can imagine my face, so we didn't go there. And then the next day she went into the bathroom with me and then waited for me in there. I'm a shy bladder person, so that was very awkward. Besides, the bathroom is the only introvert time you get when you're on an interview.

Sadly, I didn't get any of those jobs. Well, I've only heard from one, but I haven't heard from the other two, and it's well past the time they said they'd have a decision made. So yeah, I'm transitioning into panic mode. And despite my wanting to stay within driving distance of home, I'm having to expand the search area. So I shouldn't have canceled on the Wyoming interview after all. Sorry Q!

So last week I was gone on Monday for an interview. I came to the office on Tuesday and found out that I had to move all of my stuff, furniture and all, out of my apartment by the following Monday. Problem 1: I hadn't started packing, because I had been told all I needed to take with me were my necessities (the building is being renovated). I was supposed to be able to access my apartment to pack my stuff up as I had time, and I didn't have to move it out. Grr. Problem 2: I left for another interview on Tuesday afternoon and didn't get back until Thursday afternoon. So I had to pack and move my stuff in two days. And I have a lot of stuff. Thank goodness for Student Maintenance and Morgan. But it sure didn't help my shoulder any.

Gracie is turning 1 next week. I'm going home for it. My cousin Sue is also getting married next week. It'll be a busy trip.

So supposedly the FLDS kids are going to be given back to their parents. I'm very glad. What the state did was ridiculous and horrible. What happened to religious freedom? I can understand why they went in, but how can they take an entire town's children like that? Just because one child is being abused, that doesn't mean all children are. Just focus on that household. And as it turns out, the call was a prank to begin with. My other question is what is the legal age for marriage in Texas? Oh, ok, it's 17. So then take the pregnant 16 year olds and throw their "husbands" in jail. I don't agree with their lifestyle at all, but this country was founded on freedom. That includes freedom of religion.

But America did get it right on Idol! How excited was I when my boy David Cook won? Very excited.

I'm quite tired. I'm sorry that my update isn't as detailed and fun as I had hoped it would be. But now that I'm in the middle of interview phases, I'll be able to write more. But now that Idol is over, I'm not sure what I'll write about.....
