I got very sad news today that my parents' dog Precious passed away yesterday. She was 14 years old, but she had a lot of life in her. Sadly, last week she had an accident at the groomer's and just never recovered, we guess. She stayed at the vets for a couple of days, and then she stayed at the groomer's to keep her from getting excited at home and jumping on things and hurting herself. Yesterday the groomer took her for a little walk before bringing her home, and she just fell over. She called my Dad and said that she was just laying there, and then called back and said she was dead. She asked if she could bury her and my Dad said yes. They didn't even get to see her before she went. She probably thought she was being punished, because she wasn't at home and she had to stay in the kennel. She didn't know it was for her safety. It breaks my heart that she didn't get to die at home and my parents didn't get to see her. I'm very sad that she's gone, she and I had a special bond, because I would take her for walks and love on her and stuff.
My mind keeps going back to this "news" story that I saw on the Today show a while back, about this town's mayor who was dog sitting for her neighbors and decided she needed to keep the dog, so she told them the dog died. I actually thought about this on Saturday after the groomer said that she was going to keep Precious yet another day, just in case. The groomer doesn't know who I am. Maybe Tyler will need to be groomed the next time I go home, and I'll scope the place out while I'm there...
But anyway, keep my poor Mom in your thoughts, she will miss Preshy the most of all. She picked up all of her things, and was crying while she did it. It isn't as bad as it was with her last dog, Sherwood, but she was still a part of the family and was good company for her. Poor little dog :(
