Only 31 hours until the Oscars start! I've been a busy movie watcher, and I'll be even busier in the coming hours trying to squeeze as many in as I can.
Gone Baby Gone was really good. Very twisty. Casey Affleck was great in this one too. Amy Adams was good, actually she'll probably get the Oscar for supporting actress, but I didn't like her character so I'm not a good judge. Morgan Freeman was good too. I recommend seeing this one.
Elizabeth: The Golden Age was really a stupid movie. Quite awful. But Cate Blanchett was amazing as Elizabeth and totally deserves her Oscar nom. But don't bother with the movie, it's 2 hours you'll never get back.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street was great. Bloody, very very bloody. A musical slasher film. Johnny Depp was amazing, and he has a great voice. Ditto for Helena Bohnam Carter. It was funny, sick and sad all together. I give it an A-.
I'm having issues finding Michael Clayton. I couldn't even buy it at Target, they were sold out. So today I'm going to go to all the movie places to try to rent it, and if I can't, I'll go to Walmart and buy it. I'm determined to see this movie.
I thought about going to Kansas City to see Atonement and Persepolis, but I'm not feeling like it. Sweeney Todd was at the dollar theater, and i was super excited. Enchanted, Lars and the Real Girl, and The Golden Compass are also at the dollar theater. I may go see Enchanted tonight. Or Lars and the Real Girl, but that one is only nominated for one and it didn't get good reviews. If I can't find Michael Clayton I'll try for In the Valley of Elah. I'm not holding out hope for American Gangster. And I really do need to clean my apartment. So much to do!
