My Mom and I watched The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford last night. We were pleasantly surprised. It started really slow, it was actually kind of not good. But then it picked up about halfway and was really good. Casey Affleck was really good as Robert Ford. He deserves his Oscar nod. Brad Pitt was good too. It was fun to watch this movie too, because Jesse James was killed in St. Joe. That's one of their claims to fame that they have a couple of museums for. While they were filming this movie, St. Joe lobbied the producers to shoot some of it in St. Joe, but they were ignored. So then they lobbied the distribution company to do a screening, or even the premiere in St. Joe. Ignored again. Actually, I think they were probably being laughed at. But it was a big news story for a while, and people got real upset over it. Sometimes living in St. Joe is kinda funny.
Another fun thing that I have discovered here at home is that we have some neighbors with wireless internet, apparently. I unsuccessfully tried to connect my new computer here to my parents' dial up service. I think the password is written down wrong. But I was real annoyed. And then my Airport thing popped up with like four networks on it, so I clicked on one, and viola! I am now on the internet. I hope it's not illegal. If it is, I'll stop. I'm not wanting to be arrested just so I can post a blog and check my email. But it is rather convenient to be able to check my email, since I'm looking for a new job and all. I don't like not being able to stay connected while I'm gone, I am worried I'll miss out on an interview opportunity or something. I'd get a Blackberry, but...
Did I mention that I was having trouble driving in snow and stuff? I finally took my car in to get the tires checked and because it was squealing. The good news is that my brakes are great. The bad news is that the serpintine belt was rotting and needed to be replaced, and yes, my tires were worn out. $642 later I have a new belt and four new tires. And my car drives like new! I should have gotten new tires sooner, but I didn't know I needed them until this winter. I guess tires wear out after so many years. People have been impressed that they lasted as long as they did. My car's a 2000, so they were 8 years old. I love my car.
