Every year the local radio station, the hospital, and one of the local fitness centers sponsor the "Pound Plunge". The Pound Plunge is a weight loss competition for people in the St. Joe area. You form a team of four, and you lose weight, in a healthy way. At the end of 12 weeks, whatever team loses the most wins. So this year, Jen, Amy, Kelly and I have formed our team.
"Three Iowans and a Minnesotan" showed up to the official kick off a half hour early, so we were way back in line. There were probably 900 people total winding around the aisles of Sam's Club, waiting to sign in, weigh in and get our "before" pictures taken. We were there for 2 1/2 hours, with pretty much all of that being us just standing in line. The people working the different stops were pretty much all rude, with the exception of a couple of them. We didn't get any information about anything. So after our pictures were taken, we were pretty crabby and not wanting to do this anymore. But the next morning as I was denying the fact that my alarm radio was going off, I heard the DJ's talking about the huge line and how they weren't expecting all that. They also said that if anyone didn't get a booklet that it would be available to download online. And indeed, later that day it was.
The book made it all worth it again, because it gave us all of the weigh in information we needed and listed out all of the group activities for each week. There is also a ton of weight loss information that will be useful. We weigh in each week, and our team has decided to meet each Wednesday for lunch and do at least one exercise session a week together. I'm definitely going to the fitness classes each Sunday that I'm in town.
