It was this process that started me thinking that it really is time to start looking at new computers. My old Fujitsu laptop has served me well, but let's face it, at 7 years old, it's heading for the nursing home fast. In fact, that's the only thing it does fast. I finally decided right after I came back from my vacation home that it was time. The stupid thing froze up on me three times in one night. It was frustrating the hell out of me. So I looked at my finances and decided now is the time. So 2 weeks ago, I headed down to the Plaza in KC, met up with my "personal shopper" at the Apple store, and bought me a macbook.
Yup, I'm a mac. And yup, I'm loving it. There are occasional annoyances, like not knowing where all the command toolbars are and the fact that I had to restore my ipod and start all over because it was formatted to my PC. But it is taking me half the time to upload music to it now. It's great! I can't wait to try out pictures. I love iWork, but I did get Office for macs installed--as a staff member who uses my personal computer for work purposes I'm able to get it for free. It has wireless, without even trying! It has bluetooth, but I haven't played with that yet. I'm building my own website, which will house my photos, blogs, and anything else that I might feel like putting on it. I have to give props to Kevin for helping me through parts of the process. He's the one who found MSN Messenger for macs so I can talk to Laura when we're both online, and he gave me some hints about those damn tools that I can't find (I keep trying to "right click" on stuff, but I don't have a "right click" button...). I also must thank Jason, one of my RA's, for telling me about software and stuff. Jason is also my computer guy. Without him, my Fujitsu would have died two years ago. Thanks to him, it's still running. Not that I'm using it, but it still works. I think I'm going to give it to my Mom.
