I made it home for the holidays in time to do a lot of co-babysitting of little Gracie. She's getting so big! Except she's actually quite small for her age. But she has mastered the art of rolling. She is not crawling or scooting, although under the right circumstances she can slide backward. But her preferred method of transportation is the roll. It's quite entertaining to watch. She has also become aware of the dogs. She likes Precious OK, but she REALLY likes Tyler. Tyler came over to sniff her and she just giggled like crazy. And now that she's mobile, she can get to the dogs and pet them. She just giggles and giggles when she can get to Tyler. He doesn't mind, he likes to be petted. The only problem we came across was when she grabbed one of Tyler's ears and tried to put it in her mouth.
She cut her first tooth on Christmas day. She won't let you look at it though. She has also discovered her tongue and sticks it out all the time, especially when you wipe her mouth or stick your finger in to look for her tooth. Carol had bronchitis pretty bad, so Gracie caught a bit of a cold from her. I had to take her to Dr. Bob, who shook her up good and told me to take her to the Pediatrician. So the next day I had to take her to the Ped. Carol had to work. That was stressful because I had to remember everything, since she's not my baby, I didn't want to mess it up! But the Dr. said she was OK, just a little congested.
This was her first Christmas! She liked all the packages and bows and ribbons. She tried to eat every scrap of paper she managed to grab, and she once got all tangled in ribbons while she rolled around under the Delaney family tree. She got a lot of toys, and a couple of outfits. Her favorite toys were the baby doll Great-Grandma Delaney got her and the strange duck puppet the Brockmans got her. She also got some money from her Grandma Sue and Grandpa Dick so Carol and I went shopping and found her some very cute outfits. She made out like bandits!
I also enjoyed seeing Branden, my step-nephew. I only saw him on Christmas morning, but he's always fun. He and his Dad arrived to our house before Carol and Gracie did (Branden was at his mom's and Bryan picked him up). He was telling us about what he got, and then he saw that Carol and Gracie had pulled up, and he got excited and said "I wanna go say hi to Gracie!" and he ran out to see her. He loves his little sister! He helped her open her presents. She tried to help him too. They are so cute!
