Of course I live in St. Joe, and currently Juno is the only nominated movie playing in town. A bunch of nominees will be coming out on video before the awards. I'll be watching a lot of them the day before, because Feb. 19 is a big release day. I'm on duty next weekend, so I'll be signing up for Netflix and renting as many of the movies already on video and spending the entire weekend on the couch. I just hope that the other movies that aren't coming out on video before the ceremony will still be playing at the Barry Woods theater in KC. That's the only one I know how to get to, but with 24 screens, it's a good bet. Currently pretty much all of the movies I need to see are playing there. I'll be heading there the weekend after next, and spending an entire day, and possibly the evening into the night, theater hopping. Of course, I'm one of those paranoid types and will buy tickets to at least a few.
I'm currently working on my Awards Ballot. It takes a bit of time to do it. But it's quite fun. I'm excited for my party. I didn't have one last year because I was at a conference. Well, I sort of had one--we were stranded in El Paso an extra night because of weather, so my Interns and I ordered pizza and hung out in my suite (yup, we got suites for the price of regular rooms. Sometimes last minute reservations work out that way) and watched some of the ceremony. But I was so exhausted by that point that I sent everyone home at 9. And the ceremony was really strange, and I hadn't seen any of the movies, so it was all just a wash. But the year before was fun. This year will be even better.
